About Towy Community Church

Towy Community Church has a distinctively friendly and welcoming feel. You will find a group of people who do life together. Every person is valued and cared for.  We do our best to demonstrate the love and freedom Jesus has for us.  We celebrate together in the highs of life and support one another practically and emotionally in the lows, disappointments, that life brings.

We strive to be fresh and relevant, keeping up with culture, but remaining steadfast in the word of God. Come and meet us, have a coffee, a chat and a chance to explore faith and life.

What we believe

About God

There is one God, the creator and ruler of the universe. He lives eternally in three distinct but equal persons - The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit.

Genesis 1:1 Psalm 90:2; 1 Peter 1:2; 2

About Humanity

God created people to be like Him in image and character, and to have authority over the earth. Although made as the supreme object of God's creation humankind is marred by an attitude of disobedience towards God, called sin.  Sin separates us from God. Genesis 1:26,27; 3:22 Psalm 8:3-6; Romans 3:23; Isaiah 59:1, 2

About Jesus Christ

Jesus Christ is the Son of God. Co-equal with the Father and the Holy Spirit. Jesus lived a sinless life and offered himself  to death on a cross as a perfect sacrifice for all of the sins of mankind. After three days He rose from the dead to demonstrate his power over sin and death.  He ascended to heaven and will return to earth to reign as King of kings and Lord of lords.

Matthew 1:22, 23; Isaiah 9:6; John 10:10, 14:10-17; 1 Corinthians 15:3, 4; Romans 1:3, 4; 1 Timothy 6:14, 15; Ephesians 1:15-21; Acts 2:23-24

About Salvation

Salvation is the restoration of humankind to Christ through eternal life. Our salvation is a gift freely given, through Jesus, from God to mankind.  People cannot make up for their sin through self-improvement and being good - only by trusting in Jesus and God's offer of forgiveness.

Romans 6:23; Ephesians 2:8, 9; John 14:6, 1:12; Titus 3:5; Galatians 3:26;

About the Bible

The Bible is God’s word, written by human authors under the supernatural guidance of God. It is the supreme source of truth, the cornerstone for Christian beliefs and living. It is inspired by God and is truth without mixture or error.

2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:20, 21; 2 Timothy 1:13; Psalm 119:105,160

About the Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is equal with the Father and the Son.  His presence in this world causes us to realise our need for Jesus. He lives in every Christian from the moment of salvation. In seeking him daily, he provides his guidance over right and wrong, amd gives power for living whole lives and understanding spiritual truth.

2 Corinthians 3:17; John 16:7-13,  14:16,17; Acts 1:8; 1 Corinthians 2:12 3:16; Ephesians 1:13; Galatians 5:25

About Baptism

Baptism is your public declaration that you have accepted Jesus Christ as your saviour. Baptism represents the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus and your acceptance of what Christ has done for you.  Baptism does not save you, but shows the world that you have been already saved.  It is a biblical command and demonstrates you love and obedience to Christ.

Romans 6:3-5; Colossians 2:12; Ephesians 2:8-9; Matthew 28:19-20

About the Church

We believe the local Church to be the expression of God's hope in Jesus Christ to the world,  and is given life by the Spirit.  Committed to worship God, share the gospel, reach hurting people, transform lives, promote justice and love and to be in relationship with others.  To give generously of our time, talents and finances in thanks to God who has given His all for us.

Romans 12:5; 1 Corinthians 12:12-27; Ephesians 4:12

About Eternity

We await the personal and visible return of Jesus to fulfil the promises and purposes of God.  We will experience His Judgement and either live together with God through forgiveness and salvation or be eternally separated from God by sin. Through this, God will establish a new heaven and a new earth.

John 3:16; Romans 6:23; 1 John 5:11-12; Matthew 25:31-46; Revelation 21:1-4
